Date Balls

1 stick butter
8 oz. chopped dates
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups Rice Krispies
½ cup chopped pecans

Mix butter and dates in skillet, cook on low heat until dates dissolve. Add sugar and eggs. Cook 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add vanilla, Rice Krispies and pecans. Cool and roll in coconut (optional).
